Stiga Mower Maintenance Checklist

To keep your mower running at peak performance and extend its lifespan, follow this simple maintenance schedule:

Every 25 Hours (or Annually)

  • Change the Oil: Use SAE30 for Briggs & Stratton engines or 10W-30 for Stiga engines to ensure proper lubrication.
  • Service the Engine: Install a fresh Engine Service Kit (includes air filter and spark plug) to maintain fuel efficiency and easy starting.
  • Sharpen/Replace the Blade: Check the blade for nicks or dullness. A sharp blade provides a cleaner cut and keeps your grass healthy.

After Every Use

  • Clean the Deck: Use a Scraper to remove wet grass buildup from under the cutting deck. This prevents corrosion and maintains airflow for better collection.
  • Check Fuel Levels: If storing for more than 30 days, use an Oil and Fuel Extractor Kit to drain the tank, preventing stale fuel from damaging the carburretor.

Off-Season Storage

  • Protect Your Investment: Store your machine under a Small or Large Protective Cover to keep it dry and free from dust and debris during the winter months.

How to Find Your Stiga Model

We can help you find the correct parts for your Stiga mower once we have the machine identification data. Every Stiga machine features a silver or white identification sticker, usually located in a protected area to prevent wear.

Where to Look:

  • Ride-on Mowers & Tractors: Check under the seat or on the rear frame near the wheels.
  • Walk-behind Mowers: Look on the rear flap (near the grass collector) or on the side of the engine deck.

What Information You Need:

On the sticker, you will see a Model Name (e.g., SP46) and an ArtN. (often an 11-digit number, e.g 2L0482048/M21)). The Model Year is also vital, as manufacturers occasionally change specifications between seasons.
